HATE CRIMES HIGHEST IN A DECADE ARE

THE number of hate crime charges reported in Scotland has risen to the highest level in more than a decade.

And abuse of disabled people has seen the biggest increase, with disability-aggravated charges up 22 percent to 903 in 2023-24, the highest number reported since the legislation began in 2010.

Dorothy Bain, the Lord Advocate, pledged to continue to punish "crimes motivated by intolerance or prejudice".
