I don't think I've always been successful in relationships I don't know what it is

The Strictly Come Dancing judge broke off her relationship with onetime fiance Danny Taylor, it was revealed this week.

Looking back at her failed romances, twice-married Shirley, 64, said she wasn't sure why she hadn't found the perfect match yet.

And she'd accepted a happy ever after may never be on the cards.

"I don't think I've always been successful in relationships, to be perfectly honest," she told Gabby Logan at the end of last month.

"I don't really quite know what it is." Alluding to her split, Shirley added: "I'm more the person when I leave the earth people

will remember what I helped them with. I don't think I'll be remembered for the person who had the most successful relationships." Strictly head judge Shirley called time on her six-year relationship with actor Danny, 51, according to reports.

She revealed six months ago that they were no longer engaged -but were still together.

With Shirley living in London and Danny staying in Liverpool, long distance is said to have played a big part in their split. Despite going their separate ways, sources close to the couple say they'll remain friends.

Their romance started after they both appeared in pantomime Jack And The Beanstalk in their native Liverpool at the end of 2018. Shirley was Mother Nature and Danny played the villainous Fleshcreep.

It came just as Shirley was finishing her second series of Strictly.

Speaking at the time, Shirley gushed about her new love.
