SNP MSP Michael Matheson – who was forced to resign from the Scottish Government after an expenses scandal – is hoping to stand again at the next Holyrood election.
He is understood to have sent his application to party bosses ahead of a deadline this week. A decision on whether he will be approved as a candidate will be made next year.
