£100,000 DNA dog fouling scheme is binned

A COUNCIL has ruled out a £100,000 scheme to catch fouling dogs' owners which would involve shipping poo to the US to catalogue the pet's DNA.

The idea was suggested after Edinburgh was last year named the UK's worst for dog fouling.

Edinburgh City Council considered using the only UK dog DNA database, known as PooPrints, but concluded it would not be cost effective.
