FAMILIES on holiday faced 70mph gales and travel chaos – as others enjoyed the hottest day of the year.
Storm Kathleen saw drivers warned of falling trees and debris on roads, with more 50mph gusts for many today after 70mph winds in the west and 50mph in the east yesterday.
Some 70 flights were cancelled, trains were ordered to go slow in Scotland and ferries were buffeted.
