2w sales skid 9%, lowest in over a year
Financial Express Lucknow|January 03, 2025
DESPATCHES OF MOTORCYCLES and scooters of five of India's top six manufacturers to dealers fell 9% year-on-year during December as destocking efforts and lower retail demand took a toll on despatches.
SWARAJ BAGGONKAR

Hero MotoCorp, TVS Motor Company, Bajaj Auto, Royal Enfield and Suzuki collectively sold 815,000 vehicles during the reporting month. These manufacturers control nearly 70% of the domestic two-wheeler market. Though volumes were expected to be muted for December for all manufacturers, except Royal Enfield, they failed to meet the expectation of analysts.

The fall in volumes was led by India's largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp which sold 324,000 units, a drop of 18% y-o-y.
