Toyota-Suzuki pact should be the template in India
Financial Express Mumbai|December 24, 2024
THE PROPOSED GLOBAL merger between Nissan and Honda should follow the Toyota-Suzuki template in India to increase their product portfolio and market share.
VIKRAM CHAUDHARY

Auto sector executives and analysts say the merger structure is likely to be in a form where individual brands would be maintained, but there would be partnerships in technology and cross-badging of products.

"This is the kind of partnership Toyota and Suzuki have forged with great success. Suzuki is strong in small cars, Toyota is in the bigger range. Cross-badging helps them, and going ahead, the two have forged alliances for EVs and batteries too. That's the way to go," an auto firm executive told FE.
