BAJAJ AUTO on Friday launched a new Chetak platform, the 35 Series, with two variants: the Chetak 3501 priced ₹1.27 lakh, and the Chetak 3502 priced ₹1.2 lakh, ex-showroom. The previous Chetak had two battery pack options – the 2.88-kWh battery with a range of 123 km, and the 3.2-kWh battery with a range of 137 km – but this 35 Series has a 3.5-kWh battery with a range of up to 153 km.

There will be an entry-level Chetak as well, called the 3503, whose price will be announced later – it will have the same battery but less features.

It doesn’t just get a bigger battery, but its frame has also been redesigned in a way that the battery now sits under the floor, helping liberate more under-seat storage (which has gone up from 21 litres to 35 litres).
