LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday criticised the Congress, Jawaharlal Nehru (India's first Prime Minister), and the Samajwadi Party, accusing them of being "anti-Ambedkar" and demanding a public apology from the Congress. "Even though people will never forgive," he remarked.

"Insulting Babasaheb, the father of the Indian Constitution, has always been second nature to Congress. They and their allies thrive on divisive politics," Yogi said. He alleged that Nehru opposed B.R. Ambedkar's inclusion in the Constituent Assembly and that it was only Mahatma Gandhi's intervention that made Ambedkar's participation possible.

His comments come amidst ongoing opposition protests, led primarily by Congress, over Union Home Minister Amit Shah's recent remarks on Ambedkar in Parliament.
