LUDHIANA: Manmohan Singh is widely recognised as the architect of India's economic reforms, especially since the early 1990s. The last rites of former prime minister Manmohan Singh will be conducted on Saturday.
Contribution to PAU The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) paid heartfelt tributes to former prime minister Manmohan Singh following his passing. Vice-chancellor Satbir Singh Gosal hailed Singh as a visionary leader, emphasising his integrity, generosity, and profound impact on India's development. Gosal praised Singh as a well-respected, well-informed individual who led India to global recognition during his tenure as the prime minister from 2004 to 2014.
Recalling Singh's significant contributions to PAU, Gosal noted his visits to the university, including presiding over the Annual Convocation in the 1980s and the Golden Jubilee Convocation in 2012.
Singh's allocation of a special grant of ₹100 crore in 2006 enabled PAU to expand its infrastructure, including the establishment of a large auditorium named in his honour. Singh was also awarded D.Sc. degree during the Golden Jubilee Convocation, recognising his contributions to agriculture and education.
