Chatter about a potential patch-up between the two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has escalated since the new BJP-led Mahayuti government assumed charge recently. However, a statement by Sunanda Pawar, a close relative of NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, raised the political temperature on Friday.
"It is always better to be united than divided," said Sunanda, daughter-in-law of Pawar's brother Dinkarrao Pawar and mother of MLA Rohit Pawar. She said workers from both NCP factions are in favour of reconciliation.
"It is their (Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar) prerogative to take a decision (about reuniting) but I feel the family should be united," added Sunanda, whose son has been critical of Ajit ever since his uncle split the NCP.
