While the JMM threatened choking coal supply by the subsidiaries of Coal India Limited (CIL), the department of revenue, registration and land reforms of the state government also issued an order on Tuesday, directing its nodal officer to submit a report in 15 days about the progress in steps taken for legal options to realise the outstanding dues.
The developments come a day after a written reply given by the Union finance ministry in Lok Sabha to independent member from Bihar, Rajesh Ranjan aka Pappu Yadav, wherein the Centre underlined that "no share of state government of Jharkhand in tax earned as revenue from coal to the tune of ₹1.40 lakh crore is lying pending with the government for years".
In its reply, Minister of State for finance, Pankaj Chaudhary, provided details about all money disbursed by the Centre to Jharkhand under other heads including grant-in-aid, finance commission transfers, special assistance to states and funding for central sector schemes.
