JAMSHEDPUR: "As per Rule 41B, sub clause 10 of the Aircraft Rules 1937, the DGCA had suspended our training operations pursuant to our training aircraft Cessna 152, registered as VT-TAJ, meeting with an unfortunate accident. A team of DGCA officers, subsequently, was formed and sent here to conduct a detailed evaluation of our facilities, aircraft and operations. After we demonstrated satisfactory compliance, the DGCA has revoked our suspension on December 24. We are pleased to announce that we intend to resume training operations from January 2, 2025," Mrinal Kanti Paul, managing director (MD), Alchemist Aviation, told HT on Tuesday.The DGCA had suspended the flying training organisation (FTO) license of Alchemist Aviation after its Cessna 152 training aircraft crash landed in Chandil Dam in Seraikela-Kharsawan district of Jharkhand after taking off from Sonari aerodrome on August 29, 2024 morning. The pilot trainer Patna-based Jeet Shatru Anand and Adityapur-based trainee Shubhrodeep Dutta had died in the crash.Paul further said the DGCA, in its order, had called for more effective implementation of the safety management systems (SMS) to further secure the flights of the training aircraft. "We currently have five training aircraft, of which three are fully fit to fly. We now have FTO card till 2029," added Paul.Asked about insurance amount payable to the deceased, Paul assured that his company would ensure that the families of deceased pilot trainer Jeet Shatru Anand and trainee Shubhrodeep Dutta got Rs 2 crore each as insured compensation. The aircraft was insured for Rs 40 lakh.Paul said there were 43 aspirant pilots pursuing commercial pilot license (CPL) in their organisation before the accident."Fourteen trainees left us and have joined other training organisations. We charge ₹40 lakh for CPL, under which 200 hours of flying, 350 hours of ground classes and 20 hours of simulator class are provided to the trainees. For private license, the charge is ₹12 lakh under which 40 hours of flying and 10 hours of simulator class are provided," added Mrinal Kanti Paul.
