Over 5.6mn Women to Get ₹2,500 From Dec 28

More than 5.6 million women in Jharkhand will receive the first installment of the enhanced honorarium of ₹2,500 under the Maiya Samman Yojna on December 28, an official of the women, child development, and social security department said on Thursday, adding that preparations are on the final stages.

Department secretary Manoj Kumar confirmed this, saying, "The number of beneficiaries so far is over 5.66 million."

A second department official close to the matter supported secretary Kumar, stating that an amount of ₹5,225 crore has already been allotted for the scheme across the 24 districts of the state.

"From December 2024 to March 2025, an expenditure of ₹5,900 crore was estimated under the scheme. Keeping this estimation in mind, ₹5,225 crore was allotted for four months. The maximum allotment of ₹423.61 crore has been made for Giridih district, followed by ₹419.93 crore for Ranchi. Simdega received the lowest allotment of ₹83.58 crore," the government official said, sharing district-wise allotment figures.
