The number of registered voters in Delhi has risen to 15.52 million from 14.69 million, an increase of over 833,000 or 5.7% since January 2020, with people above the age of 40 driving this growth, according to the final electoral roll published by the chief electoral officer (CEO) of Delhi on Monday.

The electorate now comprises 8.35 million male voters, 7.17 million female voters, and 1,261 voters of the third gender, who are expected to cast their votes in the upcoming February assembly elections.

The increase marks an addition of 832,722 voters compared to January 2020 and 726,868 (4.9%) more than those eligible during the last assembly elections held in February 2020.

In terms of gender, women have contributed to about two-thirds of the electorate's growth, increasing their share by one percentage point to 46.2%.

The CEO's office highlighted a surge in voter enrolment, receiving over 510,000 Form-6 applications in the past 20 days alone.
