GASPING rapidly and clearly in shock, Sergeant Tim Ansell staggers to his feet and matter-of-factly tells a colleague: "Put something on my neck here, I've been f***ing stabbed here."
A routine road accident had turned into every copper's worst nightmare the only saving grace that an ambulance was already at the scene.
The uniformed officer wasn't even looking at his assailant.
He was standing in the road, his back turned, when he was inexplicably jumped by a hooded passerby who had nothing to do with the crash and who lunged at the officer and stabbed him in the neck.
The attack sent the shocked officer backwards over a prone motorcycle which had been involved in the crash.
Other cops tackle knife maniac, eventually bringing him to the ground after firing a Taser stun gun at him.
Sgt Ansell's body-cam footage captures his rapid breathing and his bloodspatted hands as he's led into the back of the ambulance.
