It's Italian o'clock...

IT'S one of Stockport's most historic and storied streets, and now Little Underbank has welcomed the arrival of Alfredo's Social - a brand new Italian restaurant and bar. The new pizza joint officially opens its doors to the public this weekend in the historic Winter's building. Jon Dootson of the Classic Building Group and Stockport Leisure Limited, who also owns the soon-tobe relaunched White Lion pub on Great Underbank, and Paul Astill, a designer who has worked on some of Manchester's best known bars and restaurants are behind the venture, and will be joined by hospitality expert, Keegan Flowers, former general manager at Cottonopolis, to launch the concept.

Alfredo's Social will be offering locals an Italian-inspired menu with authentic Neapolitan pizza, small plates, salads and charcuterie. A large selection of Italian and international wines will also be on the drinks menu, alongside local beers on draught and a small cocktail menu that will showcase fresh, home-grown ingredients.

Design wise, there hasn't been any major structural changes to the building that once homed Bistro Marc, but the colour scheme has been updated with a dark green, soft pink and chocolate brown palette. Design details include a golden Italian Vespa in the front window, large communal booths upstairs and a green-tiled kitchen space. Outside, diners can pull up a chair and eat al fresco under the dark green awnings.
