MUMBAI: Mumbai is set to witness the grand swearing-in ceremony of Maharashtra's new Mahayuti (grand alliance) government on December 5 at 5 pm at Azad Maidan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the event, as announced by state BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
Speaking to reporters in Pune earlier in the day, NCP chief Ajit Pawar said the chief minister will be from the BJP, while there will be deputy CMs from the two allies - his party and the Shiv Sena. Pawar was a deputy CM in the last government.
The new government follows the Mahayuti alliance's landslide victory in the recent Assembly elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the largest party, securing 132 seats, while the Shiv Sena faction aligned with Eknath Shinde won 57 seats, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction bagged 41 in the 288-member Assembly.
