Formerly known as BBC Worldwide, BBC Studios is the commercial arm of the corporation.
A spokesman said: "We are halting any new programme sales from our catalogue in which we have identified Huw Edwards.
"We are currently investigating existing sales and will be talking to our buyers. As you would expect, we are actively considering the availability of our archive. While we don't routinely delete content from the BBC archive as it is a matter of historical record, we do consider the continued use and re-use of material on a case-by-case basis."
An episode of Doctor Who which featured Edwards has been pulled from BBC iPlayer.
The newsreader, 62, appeared as himself in 2006 episode Fear Her, featuring Tenth Doctor David Tennant and Billie Piper.
