He will be away for four days having only been on day visits abroad since the Princess of Wales revealed her diagnosis in March.

The Prince has spoken of his connections to Africa as he prepares to go to Cape Town for the fourth annual Earthshot Prize awards ceremony.

William, 42, shared a message ahead of his arrival in Cape Town tomorrow for Earthshot Week, saying Africa is the birthplace of his ambitious global environmental award.

"Africa has always held a special place in my heart, as somewhere I found comfort as a teenager, where I proposed to my wife and most recently as the founding inspiration behind the Earthshot Prize," he said.
