The Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change notified the said amendment on November 06, 2024 doubling the rates of environmental compensation for stubble burning in the National Capital Region, NCR and surrounding states.
As per the amendment, the Commission for Air Quality Management, CAQM may now impose environmental compensation on farmers engaged in stubble burning as follows:
The Farmers with landholding less than two acres must pay an amount of Rs. 5,000 per incident.
The Farmers with landholding between two and five acres must pay an amount of Rs. 10,000 per incident.
The Farmers with landholding exceeding five acres must pay an amount of Rs. 30,000 per incident.
