The families of both sisters of the late Prime Minister are long-time residents of Kolkata. Singh's sisters Pritam Kaur and Gobind Kaur have spent almost their entire adult lives in the city.
Manmohan Singh's nephew Gurdeep Singh, the son of his sister Gobind Kaur, spoke fondly about the late leader's close bond with his family, recalling that despite his towering political stature, he was always available to guide his loved ones, though in his characteristic reticent manner.
They remembered his down-to-earth, fatherly persona which instantly put everybody at ease.
Highlighting Manmohan Singh's family-oriented nature, Gurdeep described him as a "family man," even while holding prestigious roles such as Finance Minister and Prime Minister of India.
