A 58-year-old man, one of several injured in the BEST bus accident in Kurla, succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning at Sion Hospital, raising the death toll to eight, according to Kurla police. The deceased, identified as Fajlu Rahman Sheikh, was a resident of Ghatkopar West and had come to Kurla to visit his married daughter.
Sheikh, along with his wife Asma Tunisah, daughter Najma, 25, and granddaughter Miskat, 4, was injured in the accident. After eight days of treatment, Sheikh passed away at Sion Hospital on Monday morning. Police said that the condition of the other family members remains stable.
The tragic incident occurred on December 9 in Kurla West when a BEST bus lost control, resulting in the deaths of seven people and injuries to 42 others.
