The rigmarole of Delhi politics is mind-boggling and psephologists over the years have been trying to decode the mindset of the voters with not much hope. Even as Kejriwal would like to maintain his grip over Delhi politics, it may be noted that over the years, the AAP also assumed the status of a national party by getting 6 per cent votes and two seats in four states – Delhi, Punjab, Goa and Gujarat; a feat which even Didi’s TMC could not match despite its several attempts in the state elections in the northeast over the years.
SO NEAR, YET SO FAR
For the Saffron might which has been consistent in its nationwide wins, Delhi Assembly has been one such frontier which seemed to be so close, yet so far ever since 2014. It may also be noted that even as BJP won all the seven LS seats in 2019, in the Assembly elections the very next year that is in 2020, the AAP registered an absolute majority.
