DETAILS OF MEGA LAND FRAUD, TDRS ARE OUT

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has unravelled a web of malpractices involving Purushottam Chavan, the husband of a high-ranking IPS officer of the Maharashtra cadre. Chavan was recently arrested in a Rs263 crore Income Tax refund fraud case following a search on May 19 at the IPS officer's official residence in Colaba.

He is alleged to have created fake documents for 14 properties in Mumbai as well as Transferable Development Rights (TDR) for land parcels in Mumbai and Pune worth Rs150 crore; he had also forged the signature of a Deputy Secretary of the Maharashtra government to authenticate these counterfeit papers and then got these forged documents registered, investigations have revealed..
