After receiving the invitation from the President to form the next government, the PM-designate, while speaking to the media in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan, said, "NDA will form a strong, stable and growth-oriented government."
In the 543-member Lok Sabha, the NDA parties had secured 293 seats of which 240 were bagged by the BJP. Modi will now take oath at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Senior leader Rajnath Singh proposed Modi's name as the leader of BJP and NDA in the Lok Sabha. He lauded Modi for "expanding the BJP-led NDA" and insisted that the "alliance is not a compulsion but a commitment for the BJP".
