Geoff Walker runs Geoff's Family Butchers in St Budeaux Square, which still sees customers queuing out of the doors at its busiest times.
Mr Walker, now 65, has been running his own meat business since he was 32, and has been based in St Budeaux Square since 2005.
As well as great quality meat, he believes the key to success and defying the loss of trade to the supermartkets is offering a welcoming place where locals can have a good natter. But he also said a 'personal service' was something only a butcher's shop could provide.
The thriving shop, Geoff's Family Butchers Homemade Quality Pasties and Pies was once a fruit and veg shop.
