THOUSANDS GATHER TO ENJOY THE ‘BIG SWITCH-ON'
HERALD REPORTER
City lights up for Christmas

PLYMOUTH'S Christmas lights are now switched on after the annual ceremony took place in the Piazza on Thursday night.

The main event featured performances from local dance, theatre and singing groups, sponsored by Morgan Sindall Construction and organised by the Plymouth City Centre Company.

Thousands gathered in the centre to witness the spectacle, while the evening also coincided with the switch-on of lights inside Drake Circus.

Entertainment put on inside the mall began at 3.30 pm with 'Parcel Rascals' and 'Elf & Safety' acts, while there were snow flurries at Old Town Street at 4pm, and their lights switched on at 5pm.
