HEAVIER snowfall than expected fell across Devon and Cornwall yesterday, with over 200 schools forced to close their doors across the region, and chaos reported on many roads.

About 7,000 properties were without power across Devon, according to National Grid, with affected areas including Exeter, Okehampton, Honiton and Crediton.
