Lisa Bennett, who has recently opened a new shop in Cornwall, was on the streets and in the throes of a painkiller addiction before founding hugely popular Mega Shakes in the city in 2022.
The 45-year-old, originally from Penryn, says she “didn’t care if I lived or died”. Now she is gearing up to open her second shop, in Truro.
Her success came after she and former partner, Aaron Ponting, put £500 each in to launch Mega Shakes in Plymouth Market back in April 2022. It has continued to grow ever since, becoming one of the bestrated dessert places in the city thanks to its mega-sized shakes.
