Earthquake-proof houses built in 2017 still lying vacant

EARTHQUAKE-resistant houses, which were constructed at a cost of hundreds of crores of rupees almost a decade ago, have still not been handed to the deserving poor citizens. Gadag Betageri's hundreds of families are waiting for the houses, built under Awasa scheme, to be handed over to them. Recently, some families complained that the houses built on the outskirts of Gadag are vacant.

Many families are waiting for the allotment of houses since 2014. Gadag District Slum Committee members submitted a memorandum to minister H K Patil who said the houses will be allotted in March.
