CPM state committee member P Jayarajan was joined by a large number of party workers, who chanted slogans in solidarity with the convicts as they arrived under tight security.

Jayarajan, who is also a member of the Kannur jail advisory committee, later visited the convicts, including former Uduma MLA K V Kunhiraman.

The transfer was carried out in two phases. By 3:30 pm, the first batch, comprising A Peethambaran, Saji C George, Suresh K M, Anilkumar K, Gijin G, Shrirag R, Aswin A, Subeesh, and Ranjith T, was moved from Thrissur high-security prison. An hour later, Kunhiraman, Manikandan, Raghavan Velutholi, K V Bhaskaran, and A Surendran were brought from Ernakulam district jail.

Jayarajan arrived at the jail ahead of the transfers and waited in his car until the process was completed. Once inside, he handed over copies of his book, "Keralam, Muslim Rashtreeyam -Rashtreeya Islam," to the convicts.
