A SPECIAL squad from the district health department conducted a detailed follow-up inspection in Taliparamba, where a jaundice outbreak was reported earlier this year. The operation, carried out on the instructions of district medical officer (DMO) Dr Piyush M Namboothiripad, uncovered several violations in food and water safety standards across hotels, restaurants, and cool bars.
The inspection revealed issues such as forged drinking water test reports and the operation of establishments without mandatory health cards. Notices will soon be issued to those failing to maintain proper drinking water test documentation. Meanwhile, the Japan Drinking Water Project, which supplies water to the city, has been cleared of contamination, with tests showing no presence of E. coli bacteria.
