The police on Tuesday resorted to lathi charge and fired tear gas shells in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh to disperse students protesting against alleged irregularities in an examination conducted by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission.
Thousands of students took to the streets alleging huge irregularities in the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam results and demanding its cancellation. The exam was conducted on September 21 and 22.
Hazaribagh Bandh was called by the students on Tuesday, leading to the demonstration. Students started marching peacefully from Matwari Gandhi Maidan, reached Bharat Mata Chowk and blocked NH-33, due to which vehicles remained stranded for over 10 km for over four hours.
