Maha makes FASTag must for all vehicles from April 1

THE Maharashtra cabinet on Tuesday made FASTag mandatory for all vehicles from April 1.

Violators will shell out double the toll charge as a fine.

The meeting was presided over by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who approved an amendment to the Public-Private Partnership Policy 2014, allowing toll plaza managers to charge double the toll as a fine. The cabinet note provided the rationale for the move: "Collecting toll through FASTag makes the process transparent. It will also ease delays and save time and fuel at plazas."
