THE Union government's move to go ahead with the proposed Pampa-Achankovil-Vaipar river-linking project will heavily impact the ecosystem of Vembanad lake, according to experts and environmentalists, who have also cautioned that the project will affect more than 30 lakh people in Central Kerala.
The Union Ministry of Water Resources has included the project in the agenda of the annual general body meeting of the National Water Development Agency (NWDA) and Special Committee for Inter Linking of Rivers (SCILR) scheduled on December 17 in New Delhi.
