Mysuru bid adieu to one of its most ardent advocates and visionaries, former chief minister S M Krishna, who passed away on Tuesday.
A stalwart of Karnataka politics, Krishna's enduring connection to Mysuru was deeply personal and transformative for the city's growth and heritage conservation.
Born into a family steeped in public service, Krishna was the son of Mallaiah, his formative years in Mysuru saw him imbibing values and wisdom at the Ramakrishna Ashram, where he completed his schooling.
He later pursued his intermediate education at the prestigious Maharaja's College.
Growing up, Krishna's exposure to the region's rich cultural and historical tapestry was further enriched by his father's role in the Prajapratinidhi Sabha.
As a leader, Krishna envisioned Mysuru as a vibrant heritage city, drawing parallels with Rajasthan's Pink City, Jaipur.
