Union minister Mandaviya and state ex-minister Chavda spar, deepening rift in state unit
DILIP SINGH KSHATRIYA

A fresh dispute has cropped up between Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and former state minister Jawahar Chavda in the faction-ridden state of BJP in Gujarat over the latter's absence from party events during the recent Lok Sabha polls.

The rift came to light after Jawahar Chavda responded via a social media video to what he perceived as an indirect criticism from Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya during a program five days prior. Chavda asserted, "If you had the courage, such remarks should have been voiced before or during the elections." Chavda, the former MLA of the Manavdar assembly seat who had switched from Congress to BJP and previously served the state as a minister, emerged as a prominent figure during the general elections.

His absence from BJP events during the campaign was noted by the party.
