It was a statement-making accessory that conveyed a sense of both style and functionality. The oversized clutches by brands like Coach, THEMOIRE, New York, H&M and Zara, among others, channel a classic aesthetic with a touch of modern flair.
The 25 bags, crafted in various materials, easily stand out. Some are heart-shaped, others are almost pillowy, while some are informed by the silhouette of a teddy bear. On the runway, Balenciaga's maxi clutch from SS 24 embodies a sleek, polished appeal. Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali notes that there's something about the way a woman handles a bag. The way she carries it completely transforms her ensemble, and that's the overall appearance. I see the maxi clutch as it's voluminous and also makes for a seamless day-to-night transition. The trend is here to stay, and it's time for a few labels to take note.
