ROTC officer commits suicide after hazing

Kabataan party-list Rep. Raoul Manuel revealed yesterday that a corps commander of the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) in Passi City has committed suicide after getting depressed over the hazing that he suffered during his training.

In a privilege speech, Manuel cited a report of local radio station Bombo Radyo on Friday, that ROTC corps commander JP Mombay, a third-year criminology student from Passi City College, Iloilo, committed suicide "due to severe depression... attributable to his experiences as an ROTC corps commander."
