Two tribal women were tied to a tree and assaulted by a group of people who suspected them of being engaged in religious conversion. Two cases were registered by the police on 27 December, one relating to alleged violation of the Freedom of Religion Act and the other on the brutal assault.
The Opposition BJD and Congress have demanded stern action against the culprits who assaulted the two tribal women. The BJD has alleged that the main accused in the case is closely associated with the BJP leaders of the region.
