McDonald's is being sued over a decades-old college scholarship program for Latino students, just a week after the burger chain said it would roll back a range of diversity initiatives.

The lawsuit the latest in a growing body of cases by various activist groups challenging corporate diversity initiatives was filed by the American Alliance for Equal Rights. The organization is run by Edward Blum, the activist whose lawsuits against Harvard and the University of North Carolina led the U.S. Supreme Court to end affirmative action at colleges nationwide.

McDonald's joined a growing list of companies to retreat on their diversity commitments since the court's ruling, with many announcing changes in the weeks leading up to Donald Trump's re-election to the White House. The president-elect and his advisers have vowed to target such programs. Facebook owner Meta Platforms, for example, said Friday that it would eliminate its team assigned to diversity.
