It was much awaited by wildlife and sports photographers with smaller budgets who were looking for a successor to the highly popular Nikon F-Mount 200-500 mm lens. So, with that as the target segment, will the new Nikon 180-600 mm lens, be an ideal replacement for the older lens? Read on to find out.
Design & Build Quality
This is a fairly large lens as you would expect for its focal length range. As with most Z mount telephoto lenses, it flares very rapidly towards the front to accommodate the large front element. This part of the barrel does not move and is coated with a grippy rubber coating. The front rim of the lens also has a rubber bumper. The lens accepts the standard 95 mm filters.
There are two rings. The first is very broad and is for zooming. The second narrower one is customisable for manual focussing, aperture control, exposure compensation, or ISO.
