The future of Nintendo is top of mind for a lot of people right now as many of its key franchises are experiencing a new level of success amidst innovative gameplay changes and clever marketing, meaning fans are asking, “Well, where can they go from here?” But perhaps the topic that has been scrutinised the most is the future of Nintendo’s current console, the Nintendo Switch. Why? Because it’s so perfect. The Switch perfectly merges the home console and handheld console aspects of a videogame system and combines them to form something so perfect nobody knows what they’re going to do next. Well, except Nintendo, of course. So that’s what we’re going to do today. We’ll try to figure out how the big red can follow up on one of their highest-selling consoles, why they should do what we choose, and how they can do it as successfully as possible. An exercise in futility? Maybe. But it’s still fun, nonetheless.
First of all, it’s worth mentioning that I’m biased, and much of what I say in this article will be tailored to my tastes. So I will likely only be thinking about what I’d like to see, so please feel free to let me know what you want to see down in the comments section. Ok, with that out of the way, let’s get down to business.
