Slash-happy soulslike loves slicing red bits out of bodies

We’ve been waiting impatiently for a terrible soulslike to show up so we can break out all the lazy insults. Elden Wrong. Suck-iro. Bloody-awful-borne, and so on. So it’s  actually something of a disappointment that Morbid, while never truly breaking the mould, is a promising soulslike with fresh ideas of its own. Bah!

As you’d expect from a game called ‘Morbid’ this is violent stuff, demonstrating a gleeful flair for spraying blood everywhere. If you’ve played Dark Souls or any of its many, many imitators you’ll recognise the brutal combat, high difficulty, deliberate lack of map, focus on finding shortcuts, and boss fights with (*sighs for a thousand years*) ‘surprise’ second phases.
