The EV revolution has already transformed the auto industry, but motorcycle makers are catching up. We've tested a range of new electric two-wheelers, from iconic brands and startups alike. These are our favorites.

Zero SR/S 

This aerodynamic street machine serves up 110 hp, which is on par with a middleweight, gas-powered, 600-cc sport bike. But it puts out 140 foot-pounds of torque several times that of a comparable internal combustion motorcycle. All that oomph yields wicked acceleration, blasting you out of tollbooths and past lumbering 18-wheelers. Buttons on the left grip provide access to five driving modes, including a range-extending Eco mode and a Rain mode that tames the throttle's responsiveness to keep the rubber on the wet road, as well as a companion mobile app that lets you tweak them more. The pillowy suspension eats up small bumps with little drama, and although the riding position is aggressive and forward-leaning, it's a bit more upright and thus more commuter-friendly than most sport bikes. Top speed is 124 mph, and the range on city streets is over 150 miles per charge. Connecting it to a Level 2 charger fills the battery up to 95 percent in a couple of hours, though with some charging system upgrades you can drop that time to one hour.
