Josh Tarling became the youngest-ever winner of the National Championship time trial last week, when he took the title at a canter ahead of Fred Wright (Bahrain Victorious) and Ineos Grenadiers team-mate Connor Swift in North Yorkshire last Wednesday.
At just 19 years and 126 days, Tarling was the title’s youngest-ever winner, younger even than under-23 winner Josh Charlton (Saint Piran).
The Welsh rider recorded 48.50 for the 41.1km course, which started and finished at the Croft motor racing circuit south of Darlington. The only man to average over 50kph, Tarling beat Wright into second place by 1.03, with bronze medallist Swift coming in a further seven seconds behind.
