Ken Bird 'Big Bird'

A bike built for Britain's tallest man

Ken Bird was a hugely influential figure in the South London bike racing scene of the 1970s and 1980s and was a larger-than-life character, as anyone who used to visit his shop in Anerley will remember, but this towering machine belonged to an actual physical giant.

Now owned by Golden Age Cycles, the bike is believed to have been made in the early 1980s for Chris Greener, who at the time was Britain's tallest man at 7ft 6¼ in- and who also happened to work in the cycle trade.
