WHERE DOES LIV GOLF GO FROM HERE?

Much to the PGA Tour's chagrin, LIV Golf appears to be getting stronger. Here are its big questions for 2023...

1. Is there any chance of peace talks between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf?

Jay Monahan and Greg Norman are about as stubborn as a grass stain on a pair of white trousers. The PGA Tour Commissioner says any chance of an alliance is “off the table – and has been for a long time”, while LIV Golf CEO Norman has given up on the idea of trying to figure out how the leagues can coexist because their “product is working”. In any case, LIV Golf have already taken the nuclear option by joining three of their players in an antitrust lawsuit against the PGA Tour, in which they claim the PGA Tour have used their monopoly power to quash competition and unfairly suspend players for competing in LIV Golf events. The PGA Tour have retaliated by submitting a countersuit in response, though a summary judgement won’t be heard until July 23, 2023. If the case goes to court, the trial date will not take place until January 8, 2024, by which time Tiger and Rory will be trying to get their new Monday night golf league off the ground.
