WELCOME everyone to 2024 and the start of a new year!
What a year it promises to be for looking us all here at Newmarket around the stables at some prime prospects among the as-yet unraced two-year-olds. Godolphin look to have some very interesting looking candidates and they have already started to canter, Alex Merriman will be in charge of the Moulton Paddocks establishment while Charlie Appleby is away in Dubai at the Godolphin Marmoom Stables there.
Trainer Harry Eustace is moving his horses over to Bury side of town as he is leasing Highfield stables from Sheikh Mohammed. It is a first-class yard and this young trainer will do well from there. Trainer John Winter was training there when I first ventured here to Newmarket in 1965. He was the brother of that fine jockey and trainer Fred Winter, William Haggas spent time at Highfield stables when assistant to John Winter.
WE welcome the return here at HQ to former Sir Michael Stoute assistant James Horton who is setting up training out of Park Lodge now he is leasing it from former trainer James Eustace up Park Avenue.
